Friday Night Junior Team Lists
Below is the list of individual players who have asked to be placed into teams. Each of the 5 teams needs a parent to volunteer to coach the team. You do not have to any great skills as referees will help with on field coaching, all that is required is to ensure the kids all get a fair share of time on the field. If you can coach please contact Carol on 0412736711 or email cbaumber2001@yahoo.com .
There are two divisions; mixed 8 to 12 year olds and mixed 12 to 16 year olds.
The mixed 8 to 12 year old will be playing modified rules on a half size field with 4 players on the field. The mixed 12 to 16 year division has a variety of teams including all boys teams and all girls teams along with mixed teams. At this point in time this division will have a bye. Satans Ninjahs have the bye in Round one.
All games will commence at 5.45pm, Friday 18th May 2012.

Questions and Answers on the Winter 2012 JUNIOR COMPETITION
Nominations for the winter 2012 junior competition are now open.
Below is a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) section. If you have not played with our club before or you have a questions please read the section below and you may find the answer.
Q. How do I nominate?
A. The answer to this question is quite extensive please ensure you read past this section for answers to other questions.
There are four ways to nominate;
EMAIL; scan your nomination form and email it to cbaumber2001@yahoo.com ,
FAX: fax your nomination form to 55736580 ,
Post: to 13 Gwydir Crt, Riverdowns, Qld 4212
The last option is to attend the sign on day where you will have to queue. The sign on dates is 5.30 to 7pm Friday 4th May 2012. To save time and be well informed please download the nomination form and bring it completed with you. The competition starts on the 18th May 2012. The winter season is slightly shorter than the summer season and fees are slightly less.
Nominations and payments are processed in bulk once a week. Please allow up to 7 days for your card to be debited. Players are not placed into teams unless the payment has been processed so please ensure all card details are complete, easy to read and correct.
Nominations close 11th May 2012, as this is when we put players into teams. A late nomination fee of $10 applies to all nominations received after 11th May 2012.
Q. How do I get a nomination form?
A. To get a nomination form click on the Nomination and Downloads tab at the left hand side of this page. There you will find the nomination forms. Please ensure you read the Conditions of Entry as well.
Q. Which is the correct nomination form for me?
A.If you are an individual wanting to play in a team the association is putting together then you need to complete the INDIVIDUAL NOMINATION FORM.
Alternatively, if you have formed your own team and wish to nominate a team then you need to complete the TEAM NOMINATION FORM. Every member of your team needs to complete the MEMBER REGISTRATION FORM. The team manager then needs to complete the online registration for each player in the team from the information on the member registration form. Once completed the team manager hands the completed member registrations forms in at round 1 games. There are strict conditions associated with a team nomination, e.g bulk payment of team fees at one time, and these are outlined in the CONDITIONS OF ENTRY document which can be found under the downloads tab.
The CONDITIONS OF ENTRY should be read by all team managers and all players.
Q. When do I have to pay?
A. PLEASE ENSURE YOUR NOMINATION IS ACCOMPANIED WITH PAYMENT IN FULL AS PLAYERS CAN NOT BE PLACED IN TEAMS UNLESS THEY ARE FULLY PAID. PLEASE NOTE TEAMS MUST ALSO PAY IN FULL AT NOMINATION.
Q. WHAT TIMES DO GAMES START AND FINISH?
A. Games start at 5.45pm and their are four timeslots, with the last games starting at 8.15pm.
Q. HOW LONG IS THE SEASON?
A. The season runs for 10 tens weeks. There is a break in the middle of the season during the June/July school holidays.
Q. WHAT AGE DIVISION SHOULD MY CHILD OR TEAM PLAY IN?
A. Both the inidividual nomination form and the team nomination form have the date of birth required for each age division.
The age divisions are based our representative selections for 2012 and basically they are based upon what age the player turns this year, e.g. if you are currently 12 and turn 13 in 2012 you play in the 14's age division, or if you are 13 and turn 14 in 2012 you play in the 14's age division. While it may seem that you are playing in an older age division, everyone in that age division is the same age group as you.
When nominating a team into an age division, the nomination must be based upon the oldest player in the team. Younger players are allowed to play up in age in the Friday night competition but can not play down in age.
Q. I WANT MY CHILD TO PLAY WITH THEIR FRIEND WHO IS A DIFFERNT AGE DIVISION, IS THIS ALLOWED?
A. Players are allowed to play up in age groups, so if the friend is playing in 14's division and your child is in the 12's they can nominate to play in the 14's if this is what both parties want. However, we do advise to consider this very carefully as players playing up in age can be overwhelmed and may lose confidence if they are surrounded each week by bigger and faster players that are older. A few children have no problems with playing up and can flourish playing with older children, most do not handle the added pressure.
Q. WHAT UNIFORM IS REQUIRED?
A. Our uniform process during winter is much more relaxed than during summer due to the reduced number of teams.
If you are nominating a whole team you can organise and buy any colour shirt you want for your team.
If you are nominating as an individual; the team you are placed into will be allocated a colour and you must organise your own shirt in this colour, e.g. the team is allocated the colour red, you must souce a red shirt to wear when playing. If possible a number on the back or sleeves of the shirt makes it easier for the referees to talk to you on the field.
We do have a small amount of stock left over from summer, if you are lucky we may have a shirt in your size and colour. These can be purchased for $20.
Q. MY CHILD HAS NOT PLAYED AT COOMERA COMETS TOUCH FOOTBALL BEFORE, AND DOES NOT HAVE A TEAM. DOES THAT MATTER?
A. 70% of the nominations we received are from individual players who do not have teams. Some of these players have never played touch before and just want to try it out. We place kids together into teams. If they place the names of other friends who are nominating we do try to place them together but there is no guarentees.
Q. MY CHILD HAS A FRIEND WHO PLAYS AND WE WANT TO NOMINATE OUR CHILD INTO THE SAME TEAM. IS THIS POSSIBLE?
A. On the individual nomination form there is a space to put in the names of friends you wish to play with. If in this space they place the names of other friends who are nominating we do try to place them together but there is no guarentees.
We have a 99% success rate with placing friends together however sometimes the friend is actually in a team that has been nominated as a team. This means our club does not have the option of placing players into that team. You would need to approach the team manager and ask if there are any positions available in their team.
Also if the friend is playing in an association team that has carried forward from a previous season that team may also be full.
Also if your nomination is received late the team you wish to be placed into may also be formed and full, and we are no longer able to move players around to accomodate the friends playing together.
Q. I AM A TEAM MANAGER AND I WANT TO NOMINATE MY TEAM BUT EVERYONE WANTS TO PAY BY CREDIT CARD. HOW DO I ORGANISE THIS?
A. The important thing is that you must coordinate and collect/organise the payment for the team to get the team nomination discount. One way is to get every player to fill in the individual nomination form instead of the member registration form. They place the team name in the area for friends they wish to play with and fill in the credit card details ensuring each person indicates clearly how much they are paying. Then email or fax or post the team nomination forms along with all the individual nomination forms Please ensure the total amount on all the nomination forms adds up to the nomination fee required. All of the team forms must be received in one lot so they can be processed together and minimise the administration time. If the amount is not paid in full your team will not be registered and you may not qualify for the team discount. If you follow this process then you have met the requirements for players registration as well as payment.
Q. MY CHILD PLAYED REPRESENTATIVE TOUCH FOR COOMERA IN 2011 AND WANTS TO PLAY WITH OTHER PLAYERS FROM THE REPRESENTATIVE TEAM. CAN THIS BE DONE?
A. Our Friday night junior competition is a social competition. If a representative team was placed into the competition, the competition would not be fair. No social team wants to play against a representative team. Therefore we have strict guidelines on the formation of teams. We encourage our representative players to have no more than three or four representative players in a team.
In a few rare cases exceptions have been made to the rule; representative players have commenced playing together in our competition as friends and have progressed through the age groups, e.g. Top dogs has 6 players who started in under 8's as friends and those friends have grown together as players in that team and now they all represent for the club. It would be unfair to separate those players because they have improved, so while those 6 friends are allowed to continue to play together on Friday nights, no more of our representative players are allowed to join that team. We have the player records from previous seasons and ask our representative players to not force us to go back through the books and check it out when teams nominate.
Q. HOW WILL I KNOW WHICH TEAM MY CHILD IS IN?
A. If you check our website at www.coomeracometsjuniortouch.net we will have the list of players and which teams they are in posted by 14th May 2012. Some changes may be made to the team list right up until round 1, so please check the team lists again before you leave for games on the 18th May 2012.
Q. HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT TIME MY CHILD IS PLAYING THE FIRST WEEK?
A. Once you know which team your child is in check the draw for what time and field they are playing. A draft draw will be posted by 14th May 2012, however please check the draw again on 18th May 2012 as changes can be made right up until tap off on the first night.
Q. WHEN DO THE TEAMS TRAIN?
A. Each team makes their own decision about training. It is up to the coach, players and parents to decide if they want training, if so when and for how long.
We find that 90% of teams are happy not to train as it is a social competition and is for fun. 8% will have a short training run before there games start on a Friday night. 2% will organise to have a training run during the week that suit the majority of players.
Q. WHERE DO I GO TO ON THE FIRST NIGHT?
A. Once you know which field you are playing on, go and stand by the field sideline near the sub box. The coach will arrive and introduce themselves to the team. The coach will have collected any shirts that have been ordered for the team and hand them out to players.
Q. WHAT HAPPENS IF IT IS RAINING?
A. A notice is placed on our website after 4pm on the day of play if the games are called. If you have any doubts about the games being called off due to rain check the website before you leave home.
Coaches- please ensure you allow only players on your team list onto the field as any player not on the team list is not cover by insurance and you could be liable for costs if the unregistered player incurs an accident or injures another player.
The draw for the summer 2011 Friday Night Junior competition can be found by going to the 'draw' tab at the side of this page and clicking on the link.
In the event of wet weather we will place a note on this website advising if games are called off. Please note as GCCC can close the grounds late in the afternoon the notice from us might not go on the website until 4pm, so please check just before you leave home for the grounds
Nominations received after 31st September will incur a $10 late nomination fee. Please note that if you are submitting a late nomination, teams and existing players will not be changed so that you can play with a friend. Unless there is a vacancy in the team you wish to play in, you will be placed into another side.
Friday 7th October was the last day for any late shirt orders.

Touched By Cancer 2011
TBC is coming up fast and on Sunday the 25th of September we will be taking to the fields to have fun and combat cancer at the same time. The Touched By Cancer (TBC) is a one day mixed touch carnival that is designed to get anyone and everyone involved in touch whether they are looking for social, competitive, open, senior or junior games. After the overwhelming success of last year's format we will be reintroducing the $1000 cash prize for the winning team in the competitive open division. With a record 40 teams last year the event was a huge success all round however some late coming teams could not get a place so make sure you nominate early this year to avoid disappointment.
